i dont like metal.
i have to be able to hear what there

i guess you talking about present metal (Aka Crap*)
i listen to early metal such as: Black Sabbath, Led Zepplin, The Who, Megadeth, Motorhead & Early Mettalica to name a few.
the only "new" metal bands i listen to are: Wolfmother, Dragonforce & Early Man.

and how could you say that 'new' metal is crap opposed to zeplin or black sabbath or something, although they are completly different styles from what i listen to, this new wave of metal is not crap! i have to admit alot of metal bands out there are shity though, wish these talentless people would stop starting bands.

BTW surfdog jr IMO means In My Opinion.
i never said that all new metal (metal from the year 2000 onwards) was crap.
also those three bands at the bottom are very recent but have a classic taste.
i like metal in general, give me three songs from a band and i can tell you if i like them. I never judge a band on one song why? because one song could be awesome but the rest could be absolute crap.
surfdog jr. i did not mean to offend you but you asked us to name your favorite bands and i did, also you cannot say that the artists that defined metal are different. the bands of today are mainly copying the 70's & 80's style. Now i'm not saying that they aren't original but if it weren't for the classic metal bands these guys probably wouldn't be around.

Metal:
I have both Stone Sour albums, and I've really been into Metallica lately. Well, I've been into ...And Justice For All lately. Also, I like Disturbed, Godsmack, Alice in Chains, Tool, etc.

Hard Rock:
I like AC/DC, although I'm getting sick of them (that's ALL a couple radio stations play), Army of Anyone, Seether, Staind (some of their songs), etc.

In terms of metal, I listen to some variety, but mainly early thrash and 90's - 00's alternative metal. I also listen to some classic and laternative rock and some old school and somewhat underground rap/hip-hop, like Public Enemy.

But metal is God. My favorite metal bands are:

KoRn
Iced Earth
Mastodon
Megadeth
Rage Against the Machine
Slayer
Static-X
System of a Down
